Minutes of
the
June 9, 2006 Meeting
President
Larry Leonard
called the meeting of SVABO to
order at the Heritage Theatre in the City of Lincoln. Bill Carey led us in the
flag salute. Self-introductions followed. We were welcomed to Lincoln by Todd
Cunningham, Building Official, City of Lincoln.
The May
minutes were approved as submitted.
Treasurer Report
Mark Wood
The Treasurers Report was approved as submitted.
Education Committee
Nancy Springer
The last meeting June 1st had 10 members attending. We discussed
the ICC meeting in Santa Cruz and the outcome was we all agreed to coordinate
our calendars and it will be posted on the CALBO web site. There is a future
meeting in July to discuss the I code training approach in the State of
California.
The next
class is Legal Aspects of Code and Code Enforcement which is being held on
August 23/24 at the KVIE facility and the speaker will be Josh Pino.
The
September 13/14 class is on Load Path with John Henry.
The
introduction of the new banner was made for the members to view.
The next
meeting will be July 6, 2006 at the SVABO office.
Inspector’s Program
Ron
Yasui
The
committee is working on getting a bigger training facility and holding 1 general
class instead of splitting up the classes. The outcome of this will be
available sometime in September.
Scholarship Committee
Robert Keefe
The
committee will meet sometime next week to review the 9 candidates that have been
submitted. Announcements will be made at the July meeting.
Plan
Review Committee
Paul Klein
The last meeting of the Committee was May 31, 2006. There were no responses
to develop because the May question of the month was never posted. The PRC
discussed several plan review issues and code items. The June question of the
month has been posted on the chapter’s web site regarding accessibility for 2
story office/retail buildings, landing material for single family dwellings,
window change outs and T-24 energy compliance.
Next
meeting will be on June 28th at the SVABO office.
CRDC
Dan Larsen
The meeting
was to be held this morning but was postponed due to ABM meeting.
The building
standard has been mailed to the committee and is up for discussion. The ICC
code development reviews are posted now on the ICC Web site; please print a copy
and review so you can see what the new code changes are.
We will have
a meeting next week to discuss the I codes and we have until September to get
comments back.

ABM
(2007)
Ken Welch.
This
morning the committee met to discuss budget. We decided on the amount of
$52,000, which is to be collected by sponsors and donations. Ken introduced the
ABM chairs members, pointing out that the majority of helpers are private
industry and that we need more involvement from our jurisdictions.
Ken made a
motion to Larry to write a letter asking for donations from all chapters and to
CALBO for $1500.

will be July 14th 9:00.

Elden Lewis of
Stairway Manufacturer Association, brought copies of a visual interpretation of
the new 2006 IRC code to hand out.
Announcements
Dan Larsen
Dan asked
the chapter for a code discussion regarding canopies on medical office
buildings. Please respond back to Dan with your jurisdictions interpretation of
the application of this code section.

HERS program and HVAC change
outs.
Next
Meeting
The next
meeting will be at Butte County July 14, 2006 with Scott Rutherford as our host.
The program will be on Photovoltaic Inspection Guidelines held at the Butte
Creek Country Club.
