The next meeting will be on July 31, 2003 at 2 PM in Roseville

Plan Review/CRDC:  Larry Leonard reported that five topics were brought to the table at last month’s May 28th meeting; three were elevated to the CRCD committee for further review.  The items are:

calculating total occupant load; refining the definition of intervening room; when is a multi-purpose room an auditorium.  Larry requests that you e-mail him with you code issues or questions.  He can be reached at lleonard@roseville.ca.us.  These meetings are regularly scheduled for the last Wednesday of the month so the next meeting is June 25th at noon for Plan Review and 2:30 for CRDC in Roseville.

HCD:  Last Wednesday, June 11th, the four state agencies presented their recommendations for model code adoption in California.  The IBC, IRC and IFC were recommended by HCD, OSHPD and DSA while the State Fire Marshal recommended NFPA 1 and NFPA 5000.  There will be additional important meetings on June 26, July 2 and July 16th.

CEC:  Elaine is “still vibrating” after having spent the last few days in Arizona at the National Fenestration Grading Council.  She brought with her a CD of videos available from the Commission and urges anyone interested to contact her for more information.

Old Business:  None

New Business:  The September meeting currently scheduled as a roundtable program at Woodcreek in Roseville has been cancelled.  The discussion topic for that meeting was to be “Managing Master Plan Programs” and how we could develop some jurisdictional commonality.  This program topic has been moved forward to the July 11th meeting in South Lake Tahoe. Please bring any written policies your jurisdiction is currently using.

The Education Committee has been working with Robert Keefe to invite the Dean and other administrators from the Consumnes River College building technology staff and students to the September meeting.  The Association voted to invite them to the August meeting at Simpson Strong-Tie in Stockton and Robert will continue to try to coordinate their attendance.

Code Discussion:  Rick Renfro rrenfro@elkgrovecity.org asked about allowing ABS on the top two floors of a three story building with cast iron on the bottom floor.  Kevin Reinertson kreinert@hcd.ca.gov told us that HCD should have an illustration and interpretation of this issue on their Web site within the next few weeks.

Announcements:  Bill Carey announced that El Dorado County is recruiting for Building Inspectors.

Mike Rodriguez happily announced that Becky Fraser has FINALLY been appointed Building Official for the City of Yuba City unseating Bill Carey from holding the “interim” title for the longest period of time.  Congratulations Becky ! !

Greg Lamb announced that the 2005 CALBO ABM will be hosted by the Yosemite Chapter at Yosemite.  They will probably be asking our Association for help as time gets closer.
